This piece of farm equipment is a cube feeder which is used for feeding cattle. There are a several things that make this product unique, one being that it holds 80 bushels of product which is quite sizeable and secondly, the operator can open the lid from standing on the ground, making it much easier to load. Another item of special interest is that the auger in this unit is in two parts, the front section and the rear section. Augers empty from the front and in this application, that would transfer the center of gravity to the rear of the hauling vehicle. making it tail heavy. The idea behind splitting the auger is that the rear section of auger can empty the rear and then engaging a hand clutch the front section of auger can finish emptying the rear along with emptying the front. This unit was custom built but was basically designed by the farmer that was in need for this kind of equipment.
